Programming
ETS (Engineering Tool Software)is the unique manufacturer independent Tool Software to design and configure intelligent home and building control installations made with the KNX system. Before you start to work with ETS, you will need a KNX product database.This information is provided by the KNX products’ manufacturers in the form of “ETS product databases”. You can obtain these directly from the manufacturers, either by download from their website, or on CD-ROM. Please get in touch with your manufacturer(s) for details! Before you can configure a project in ETS, you need to “import” KNX Product databases. (*.VD2, *.VD3, *.VD4, *.VD5, *.KNXPROJ)

Following aplication areas you can control using ETS:

• Lighting control(switching; dimming; “mood lighting”)
• Shading control(shutters; blinds)
• Heating, ventilation, air-conditioning(individual room temperature control; control of radiators, terminal units, boilers, coolers, fans)
• Access & security(presence detection; burglary and fire detection and alarm; presence simulation; panic switch)
• Energy management(consumption metering; load shedding;)
• Comfort functionsand intelligent control across all applications (central user control; combined scenario’s; intelligent process control)
• Remote controland remote maintenance (e.g. via phone or Internet)
• Interfacing to complementary or peripheral systems (white goods; supervision consoles; facility management; dedicated security systems; audio; multimedia; services;)

For more sophisticated aplications such as home automation control we can use WAGO KNX IP controller 750-849 together with WAGO/KNX communication interface 753-646. That offers an elegant solution how to control the building`s HVAC system via KNX Touch screen or PC.
Another KNX device for higher level of aplications could be CCEIB-SPS with integrated EIB-Server.The EIB-SPS is the central intelligence for the EIB. The device can work without a PC, and will execute its programmable logic reliable. The programming software comes with over 100 ready to use function blocks, it is even possible to write your own blocks by a C-alike script language. Therefore the realisation of nearly every complex function with the EIB is possible. You can test your logics offline, without EIBSPS, on your PC, and download them by the LAN connection to the EIB-SPS.
  

Visualization

There are a lot of possibilities how to display information from KNX bus. We can use small info displays, LCD displays or Touch displays. The global solution for visualization, data archieving, remote acces etc. offers GIRA HOMESERVER 3. Anyone with the user rights (with permission) can control all functions in building via PC, Touch Screens, Mobile Phones or iPods. Is possible to recieve an e-mails or SMS with alert messages in case of alarm. Is possible to supervise all home technology using the internet connection even to switch ON sauna during the way from the office for example. There are scarcely any limits using Homeserver 3…
